Hi guys. I just wanted to put this up for those who may be new to working with a street team & are looking for the little things that they can do to promote the band. * WORD OF MOUTH! This has to be the #1 action that you can take to help promote the band. Be creative with it. Post online about them, introduce people to the music, etc. Be obnoxious about promoting them if you have to. * Purchase the albums/merchandise as gifts for friends & family. (This is a favorite of mine since I live in such a very rural area, which I have been doing as of late & plan to do at Christmas as well.) * Even simple things like making your own posters & placing them around town, in coffee houses, internet cafes, college campuses, etc. On that same note, you could make 3x5 cards for the band to hand out at concerts with similar audiences. * Request them! On the radio, Sirius radio, TV music channels, etc. Obviously those who live in, or near, major cities will have better luck with many of these things, but any little bit helps. ;D Also, feel free to post any other ideas for band promotions here as well guys & gals. Sincerely, Laurasia

I think that one of the best ideas is one of the ones already mentioned...getting the album for others as gifts!! That definitly spreads the music around, ya know??

I'm getting the album for my brother for christmas. And one of the shirts for my mom. She's almost more in love with them than i am. But the promotion ideas that you've listed are pretty much the major ones. Unless you're REALLY super lucky and have great hook ups, there's a few others. Like make buttons for 'em, stickers... Stuff like that. I'm getting ready to put a decal i had made with their name on my car. Just little stuff like that will get their name out there.

May I suggest the power of mailing lists. Someone set up a mailing list. Its often a good idea to go around gigs armed with a clip board and a template for a mailing list, so you can go down the queue and tell people about FFG and get them to sign up to the list, then type up the list and then add the addresses...sorry thats not explained very well, but do you kinda get what im getting at? <3

I think that I may know what you're referring to Believe. Have you ever thought about setting one up? I'm sure that the guys would appreciate it. Sincerely, Laurasia

I've thought about it, but i've been so busy with work and stuff like that, that i haven't had the chance. I'm hoping the next semi-local show that they have, i'll be able to get one started. The only problem with starting a mailing list, is being able to get the information on what the guys are up to in order to keep their fans informed. Cuz my idea of a mailing list is to keep their fans informed on what the guys are up to, when they have shows and where, and stuff like that. I'm just not sure on where to get the information in order to keep their fans updated..

sometimes though their myspace and homepage don't have much on 'em.. i think i'm going to go ahead and start one up and see how it goes.. aside from work, i don't have much of a life.. haha.

You could always just ask the guys to write something up for you, or talk to them whenever you need to write an updated message for the mailing list.

yeah.. that's what i was figuring.. i'm sure i can come up with something.. now, it's just a matter of having a few local shows in order to get some people to sign up.. i'm thinking of making up a sign up sheet, and sending it with the guys to the East Coast..
